The Kurrent is our lightest kayak ever. It is designed primarily for day trips or overnight paddling. Some of the frame parts are constructed from thin-wall 5/8" tubing, joined with strong ¾" oversleeves. For high-stress areas we use our standard, heavier wall tubing. Both the skin and deck are constructed of welded urethane-coated nylon. Construction is similar to our standard weight kayaks, but the fabric is thinner and lighter. Care should be taken when approaching shore. The light weight and ease of assembly will appeal to smaller paddlers. Nonetheless, one of our test paddlers who paddled a Kurrent loaded with a week’s gear is 6'5" and 230 pounds. With its upswept bow and refined shape, the kayak is a joy to paddle. The Kurrent is extremely transportable in its own stuff sack, equipped with a backpack harness. Our packcart attaches to the carrying bag for rolling travel. So go.
