The Current Designs Squall GTS was first introduced in 1997 as an early entry into a developing category of rotomolded sea kayaks. From its humble beginnings on Vancouver Island, paddlers the world over took note, proliferating the Squall onto all seven continents. Fueled by paddlers’ responses to our recent improvements and design changes in the Current Designs composite Solstice family, the Current Designs design team fostered a campaign to translate this same energy and knowledge into the improved and updated Squall GTS. Paramount to this campaign were improvements in cockpit design, hull modifications targeting a more worldly design, improved aft bulkhead positioning and modernization of the deck to include our unique underdeck rudder-haul line system. Together these improvements and modernization package should afford a more user-friendly kayak in a wide spectrum of waters.
