The Ocean 17 is the latest addition to North Shore’s range of British designed and manufactured sea kayaks. Designed as a responsive touring-kayak with a good turn of speed. The most obvious feature of this new kayak is its chine profile, uniquely, these end abruptly near the paddlers hips giving a fast stable hull with unprecedented response to edging. This contemporary hull, combined with a low profile deck that sheds water and offers low windage, keeps paddlers in control even in the worst sea and weather conditions.
Whilst not conceived as a playful day boat, it’s low profile and responsiveness ensures it’ll still perform in this role, however its speed, tracking and control characteristics really lend themselves to paddlers wanting to cover distance efficiently with or without load in any conditions. The Ocean 17 is the smaller of the two available sizes and is designed for paddlers between 140-200lbs although a slightly heavier paddler could still enjoy this kayak if they have no aspiration to do extended trips.
