I was ready to purchase the Garmin Montana600 when I came across the article in the SKmag about the Garmin GPSMAP78 (sc model comes already loaded with coastline maps) and now I can't decide.
Here is the bottom line;
Montana is touchscreen, has larger screen (10.2 cm vs 6.6), more memory (3Gb vs 1.7), about the same battery life (20 h vs 22 h), more waypoints (4000 vs 2000). both are waterproof and the 78 floats. Another important difference is that the 78 is easier to see under all light conditions. Price? the montana is about $100 more than the 78s (but same price as the 78sc with the preloaded map).
Anyone has any experience with either one?
