Went to a park where they have a kayak launch with the rollers build into a floating dock. I looked at it and didn't like it I was worried about the rollers being to far apart and not matching my round hull. I told the GF but didn't want to stop the day. I launched her Eddyline Journey no problem. I launched myself no problem trying to keep some weight off the hull as I grabbed the hand rails. It worked with no problem.
Coming out I pull myself up on the rails then the now Kevlar Nomad previously the Extreme from Current Designs got to a point where it tipped near the top and then I heard some horrible cracking noises. I looked down and saw the hull which was round now flattened in the center. Fractured the hull a bit. Can't be seen on the outside unless you push hard and then a hairline appears in the finish. Inside a fracture on one side about 6" long. Faint but I can see it.
So tomorrow I will be putting some glass in the seating area. I think I will use one layer of mat and a layer of cloth with epoxy from West Systems. I called Current Designs and they said for repairs they don't bother with kevlar as it is harder to work with and with regular glass the repair will not be so obvious.
I should have went with my instincts and left.
