I bought a Kokatat Expedition last year to replace my (very) old Kokatat non-Goretex drysuit. I used the new Expedition all fall/winter/spring paddling the coastal waters of Cape Cod. Also used it for kayak fishing. The hood does not attach, but I found it really helpful when capsizing in cold water. I am wearing a flees "baseball cap" underneath the hood and the combination kept my head warm after getting back in the boat after full submersion on an ice cold windy day. I am wearing neoprene mukluks on my feet and warm socks to keep warm. My old suit had ankle gaskets which somewhat impaired blood circulation and often yielded cold feet, especially after submersion. I had it repaired recently and had it outfitted with goretex socks too (Kokatat's customer service is great and uncomplicated!). Ihave been wearing the Expedition in warmer weather while water temps in Cape Cod bay were still in the 40s and found it building up significant condensation inside.
