Hello, I'm from Trinidad and Tobago in the Southern Caribbean - where the water is always warm smile I am a SOT paddler who has moved onto Surf Skis. However I wanted to start touring and an SOT is too slow while my Surfski has no storage space, of course. So I am having a very capabale boat builder build a Point Bennett Kayak for me and I am now looking at outfitting. So, I have a lot of questions. Can one perform a roll in a nylon spray skirt (getting a minor bit of water in the cockpit is not a big deal). It is always warm down here. What about a half-skirt? Are there any designs for a skirt that be undone at the front as when relaxing or fishing and then quickly fastened with a zip or something if the seas/weather turn rough and you need to head for safety fast? My primary objective with this kayak is touring/fishing, etc and I would like to have easy open access to the cockpit most of the time. I would welcome any input or comments at all. I have never rolled before, but am going to start learning soon. I have just over a year of surfski experience and have achieved considerable competency in balancing a 19 inch round hull/curved chine boat.
