Still checking out touring boats...I've paddled my husband's Looksha IV (fiberglass) a few times and except for the seat, didn't have any complaints.

Now he's located a really tempting deal on a newer Looksha IV. I looked at it today. The seat is MUCH improved over his 02 and it's made of an "advanced composite", which is lighter than his boat. The Necky web site says its stronger and more durable.

I know the Necky has a weathercocking issue, but it come with a rudder that could be used in adverse conditions.

So I'm looking for input, especially on the material.

I's appreciate some input.

This may not be the advice you're looking for, but do yourself a super favor and try out a Current Designs Sirocco, or Gulf Stream. That of course is my very partial opinion, since I happen to own one. I've tried out a number of boats, including Neckys and so far every other boat I've tried has only made me so happy that I bought the Current Design.

Thanks for the advice. I have decided to let this one slide on by. A lot of response from discussion about the weather-cocking issue on a different forum + research.

My heart still beats for the new CD Cypress...price & availablity are the major issues there.

I have been trying and researching a variety of boats, but nothing like hearing from other paddlers to help make the right decision.

My CD Kestrel 140 is a great boat for most conditions, but would like an open water and gulf side paddle boat that can take the finiky Florida weather.

Thanks for the advise.
