Hello out there!
just wondering if anyone has insight on investing in a feathercraft?
I'm a maturing whtitewater yaker that wants to keep paddeling,I'm over the need for class 5 water, would like to travel to new lands, explore coastal regions. I want something that can handle all conditions, fast and multi-day loads.
Any thoughts on where to start?
Thanks
ric

I'm sorry no one responded to your message sooner. If you're going to be traveling around esp. by air, a folder is the way to go. The excess airline baggage fees will eat you up but the Feathercraft should pack down to 1 bag. They're expen$ive but since it'll last a good 20-25-30 years, cost shouldn't be an issue.

Check out foldingkayak.com and Lyle in Durango and go see Mark at Long Haul Folding kayaks up in Cedaredge CO. Both are great guys and will give you lots of information.

My paddlebuddy has a feathercraft K2. We take this everywhere. The quality is incredible. We feel it is easier in chop because it has some play unlike a hardshell which can slap down. They are very tough and he has found the company to be very supportive when calling for any help, parts or advice. Even replace a broken rudder for free.
They are expensive, they travel and store well.
We are building folders right now so you should check out "yostwerks.com." you can make a very sweet boat of almost any design for less that $1000. This is a brilliant site and incredibly comprehensive. If you build it, you can fix it.

Sometimes it's nice to have a foldable, or inflatable, but nothing is going to take the place of that new Caribou. Be prepared to be spoiled.
