I hope these slide shows don't take forever to load. They load pretty quickly from here in BC. If they take too long please tell me and I'll put links here to smaller versions.

This was my first trip and all went well except the camera died on day five.

Slide show of crossing of QC Straight

This was my last trip up there this season, and although I didn't get across I did spend a few wet, bedraggled days on Balaklava Island.

Attempt to cross QC Straight fialed but spent a few days on Balaklava Island instead.

Great paddle report and pictures CH!
Loaded fine for me. Very nice route there.

Glad to hear it loaded ok for you. Some of my friends in foreign countries haven't had the same luck. Buddy in Moscow says it took forever to load, although Sue in Australia seemed able to get it loaded pronto.
I'm going back next year to this area with a drysuit so I won't have to be so ultra-cautious about avoiding any and all risk of capsizing. Although I had a waterproof marine VHF, I figured it'd take at least 30 minutes to two hours or more between sending a 'M'Aidez' call and actually getting rescued --- in 9C water, I don't know if I could last that long without a drysuit.

Very smart thinking.
I'm on that page too when it comes to being cautious.
Look at what happened in Howe Sound recently. \:\(

Hey, you know it --- and these guys (in the Howe Sound tragedy) were super-fit, athletic types. If they couldn't survive more than 20 minutes/half an hour, how long could a guy like me expect to last for? I'm not all flabby or anything either, but I'm surely no extreme athlete. Yeah, it's a drysuit for me. Despite the expense and the encumberment, I'm getting one before my next exposed crossing of any length.
