Excellent!
Wanted to recount my own tale of my summitstone.
Great Articles too SK!
Late June 2005, a friend Wayne and I were trying to get in as many islands as possible in Barkley Sound.
We eventually completed one long loop but didn't make it across Imperial Eagle channel for the Deer Group.
Six days of incredible meandering among islands through the Broken Group was our best bet.
Had some high winds. Few very fog filled mornings.
Sheltered there but lots of rolling ocean down Loudon and across Coaster Channels.
Second day out. Early morning. On own while Wayne caught up on his beautie sleep.
Kept catching glimpses of a solo paddler. Near south of Turret island. Would see this kayaker. Then spot him or her later. went on like this in foggy conditions for over two hours.
I looped aroung small islets south of Turret. South and then west. Then back to near campsite.
Spotted my mystery person on the beach. Bending down and collecting shells I thought. Then back to their kayak and he or she headed further west.
I drifted in and was curious to see what was of interest.
Followed what footprints I could to find a small rock pile.
Laying on top of this rock pile were three zip lock bags one folded inside the other.
Inside the most inner one was a blue booklet called "An Adventure Muse".
Inside this little book was an awesome "SummitStone"!
I looked over in the direction of where the mystery kayaker went and spotted her bobbing in the water. Seemingly watching me!
I figure she had looped back to watch me find this.
The kayaker I think must be "DSD". Waved at me. Then paddled off south west to Clark island.
When I told him, Wayne, thought I was seeing things again. Until I presented my new found summitstone.
Later that day we kayaked toward Clark. Checked around everywhere but did not find anything else.
Thought we might seee DSD again but didn't.
Would have liked to share a coffee and conversation with DSD.
Marvelous gift!
