Oh crap, a massive force of sea lions have invaded the Columbia River. Apparently there is a huge late run of smelt in the river and the feast is on.

I was out there yesterday and I guess I missed the main groups of lions. Several fishermen told me that one group of at least 50 came by, followed by another contingent of at least 25. I knew it was going to be one of those days when the first thing I heard when I got to the launch site was a barking lion. Most of the action was out several hundred yards from shore, so I was happy to concede that to them. I didn't have any close encounters, but there were a couple that came up in my general area. They were busy gorging themselves, so they left me alone.

Where, oh where are the Orcas?
