Hi folks,

next summer I want to surround Anglesey by kayak. Since I live in Germany I do not have all required informations about paddling in Great Britain. Therefore I am asking here for them:

1) How is the use of VHF - radio regulated? Do one need a license? Are there weather broadcasting channels which can be receved by VHF - radio? Which channel at which time?

2) Where can I purchase all nececery informations about tides about the area of Anglesey?

3) Has anyone tidal flow and / or nautical charts somewhere to get rid of them?

I would be happy for replyes,
Alexander ( email: al.ju(ed)web.de )

Alexander,

I've asked a couple of kayak clubs in the UK if they could respond to your questions. Hopefully we'll have some answers soon.

In the States; tide, current and navigational charts are available through stores or chandlers that cover both recreational and commercial boating. As well we are able to buy direct from the source if there is not a store near by. I would think that if you have a commercial boat type of chandler in your area that they would carry the British Admiralty Charts.

Good luck
Michael
