My kayaking buddies and I have found that Rabbit Blanket Lake Campgrounds is the best base camp for sea kayaking Lake Superior Provincial Park. This campground is located between Old Womans Bay and the Gargantua Islands. Also, supplies are only 1/2 hour North at Wawa.
The campsites are in wonderful condition and the restrooms are very clean. Of course, after a long paddle, the hot showers are a welcomed treat. The price is also right. I think we paid around $40 bucks American per night. Fire wood is for sale at the park and also at the Ranger station (about a 5 minute drive to the South)We will be back in a couple years.
Note: Wonderful hiking trails begin right at the campground.
Note 2: Do not forget to stop by the Agawa Bay Visitor Center. It is located about an hour and a half South of Rabbit Blanket Lake. This center is loaded with maps, a wonderful museum, art and other fine items. Next to the visitor center is the Agawa Bay Campground. This campground is also nice, but it is really best if you are looking for a day paddle of the pictographs. The campsites are located right on Lake Superior; absolutly beautiful.
