It looks like you've just managed to re-invent the wheel. Why bother with all of that contraption when all you need is a ski and a kite?

kibokit,
That has to be the fastest I've ever seen a rotomolded sit-on-top go. Very innovative daggerboard arrangement. Is all the steering done with the kite? or can you steer at all with the board?

Many reasons, just to name a few
1. For a change. It's different from kiteboarding and a lot of fun!
2. I prefer sitting over standing sometimes
3. I like to take passengers sometimes(e.g. my 8 year old son)
4. Many people are being fascinated by power kites, these are not only used for kitesurfing, but as well for buggying, landboarding, kite-skiing. Why not for powering a boat?

All the steering is done by kite only, which works very well. I can go anywhere from upwind up to 60deg off the wind, to dead downwind(but obviously wouldn't need my invention to do so), by changing the kites position (in the wind window).
I had build and tested a smaller version for touring as well, with which I would still be faster than paddling(~4knts), using a smaller kite of 3sqm and traveling slightly upwind.

I don't mean to be contrary, but it seems to me that wind powered boats have been around for a long time. They are even capable of carrying passengers who can sit if they want.

kibokit, Magooch says he doesn't mean to be contrary, but he actually does. It's just his way.

During your research, have you run across a kite type, that could be used as an emergency rig on a Hobie Cat ?
The kite should be able to stand independently, so the Hobie can be steered by the rudder.
