Hi folks,
Since October of 2011, I've been working on a blog (http://torsorotation.com) dedicated to sea kayaking in the Pacific Northwest in general and the Oregon coast in particular. I am not a demi-god paddler, but I have fun and kayaking has an important part of my life. I hope that the blog will give expression to the kayaking culture of the our region. I hope you'll visit it and also- please add your comments to the blog.

All the best,

Paul Steinberg

Hi Paul,
I tried repeatedly to post comments on your blog, but was unable to do so, so here they are. You're welcome to put them on your blog:
Great post, and really good points about Lumpy and other sympos like it. You write well. I particularly liked weighing in when the sword swings too close. I know of no setting that places a greater demand on the skill and judgment of trip leaders than the open ocean. That anyone is willing to teach there is amazing & I have a lot of respect for coaches like Sean Morley who step up to that daunting plate.

Wayne Horodowich (University of Sea Kayaking) has written an excellent article "The Mental Game of Rolling" on paddling.net, and there's also a lovely article entitled "Rolling My Kayak" by Warren Willianson on the USK site. Both are great reading following an unwelcome swim.

Thanks macgooch and Shiver. I very much appreciate your feedback. I am having fun writing the blog and without readers, well, it is not the same ;-)
I am sorry to hear that you are having trouble posting comments. Yeesh. I'll take a look and see if there is an obvious problem that I can fix.

Moulton,

That Horodowich article is spot on I tried to make the same point but he does it in greater detail (and better!). http://www.paddling.net/guidelines/showArticle.html?117

Thank you for pointing that out.
