Headed for the Brooks Penn. on the west coast of Vancouver Island & thought--perhaps I should check on the stuff in my emergency bag (stashed behind my seat). Discovered I've got all sorts of first aid gear & one Cliff bar. So I won't bleed to death, just starve. What do you carry in your emergency bag?
Thanks,
Tim

Well, I don't call it my emergency bag, but I carry a bottle of water, some nuts (walnuts, cashews, etc.), my phone, extra batteries for my radio, sunscreen lotion, and some odds and ends. This bag is not stored behind the seat, but in the stern compartment.

'pro-bar' is a good brand of energy bar for max-calories in a small package. lots of fat from nuts and close to 400 calories.
I carry a small waterproof flashlight, waterproof matches, duct tape, foil bivy sack, smoke and meteor flares. In my pfd I have a radio, compass, knife, a couple of bars, hydration bladder, sunscreen stick.
Sounds like a great trip. The Brooks is a wild place. I don't anyone who has been there and NOT seen multiple bears and wolves and the storms are legendary in their ferocity and speed.
