A friend here in Seattle brought the greenland and aleutian version to our weekly club practice. I tried both and really liked the Aleut blade shape. The aleut blade has a flat side and a convex side but flat side is actually slightly concave and gives a great feeling of grip in the water. Acceleration and high speed paddling felt very smooth. It also rolled and sculled very nicely. It got passed around and a few folks who had only recently got a reliable roll with a euro blade just popped right up without trouble. They are foam filled carbon so very buoyant. If you see them at a demo or symposium give em a try.

One of the things Nick didn't mention was that the main staple of Northern Lights paddles are that they are 3 piece paddles! The blade length is fixed, but the loom length can be specified, additionally there is a storm paddle loom as well that come with the paddle.

Hi everyone. Gnarlydog did a review of the paddle in Queensland, Australia.

http://gnarlydognews.blogspot.com/2011/07/review-northern-light-greenland-paddle.html

He did a nice rolling video as a surprise to me which is on our website and I think he is about to post a surf video as well on his blog using the GP in some trashy situations.

Regards, Paul

and apologies if I should not be commenting on our paddles in this forum)

Paul,
Welcome to the Sea Kayaker Magazine forum. Having members of the industry participate in discussions, in a non advertising way, helps us build the knowledeg base available to our members.

I would say your post is acceptable in that it was a link to a review independent of Northern Lights and not a post directing Forum users to your website or a one sided discussion about why Northern Lights is good and others aren't.

I also appreciate you identifying yourself as being associated with Northern Lights so members can take that information into account.
