I am interested in what "standard" accessories/gear are in/on your boat for every paddle. Lets assume everyone has a spare paddle, paddle float, pump and med kit.

Bag o' Little Debbie 'pastries', flagon o' grog, 2 Hostess Twinkies, a rock-hard Moon Pie, and an empty RC Cola bottle. Also on deck - "Little Suzie" - a small doll that rides in the recessed compass housing. There's probably more essential stuff, but I gotta check to make sure.

I almost always have a chart/map/topo sheet, (along with deck compass), for where I'm paddling, even if I've been there often before--just force of habit, I guess, but now and then I'll find and explore some little island or channel or alternate way that's on the chart but I've not traveled before or recently. Chuck Sutherland's Nav-Aid. Also generally have a full change of clothing & extra outerwear, especially in cold-water season. Anemometer and monocular in the PFD. VHF & cell phone. Knife. Extra rope. Duct tape.....

Deck compass, chart of the area, flares, laser flare, vhf, rescue sling, tow rope, air horn, whistle, water bottle, bilge pump, sponge, float bags inside watertight bulkheads, waterproof light, PFD, spray skirt, extra paddle, high energy snack, change of clothes, sun screen, hat and sunglasses.

If going for more than a sunny afternoon along shore paddle I would also have my drysuit on, additional food, water, clothes plus my repair kit etc.

Overnight or day paddling in a remote area the list gets even longer.

This sounds like my diet when I aim for the summit of Fools Mountain or seek to ride the wonderful Cretins Cataract. Grog got me through many a port-a-ledge nights!
