I was looking to get a tent and sleeping bag for a little journey in the early spring. I have no clue what brands or types are best on either items. I guess I could encounter temps to 20*F. Tent for 1 person. Prefer something not made in China if that is not a dream.

What is easy to pack in the Kayak like my CD Solstice?

Western Mountaineering makes outstanding down sleeping bags. Using 900 fill down, they pack down very small. Some people worry about down around water, but it's not really an issue: the bags have a water resistant shell, you'll use a dry bag to pack it, and hopefully your tent is waterproof. If your bag is getting soaked, you've got big problems regardless of bag material.

I have this tent. It is very nice self standing 1 man tent that fits nice in the kayak.
They had it for $114.95 and after I ordered they jacket up the price to 139. I think you can find it for $10-15 less on Amazon or elsewhere.

I also picked up a MountainSmith Humbolt which is a winter bag -20 650 down for $138. with Cotton Stuff/Storage sack and Compression sack. A really nice bag.
here is the same bag in a 20 degree version. The Eolus. very nice bags, great value. I have seen it selling for $94. You may have to surf around and google one up. These bags are last years models/discontinued and are going fast.
Good Luck.

I'd surf around and look for discontinued bags or last years models for substantial discounts.
