Greetings. I've been kayaking the waters of Central Florida since 1996. Since my home is near Daytona, I tend to keep within about 50 miles of there. For anyone looking for a completely un-touristy, inexpensive vacation that will be entirely of your own design, I recommend buying a Gazetteer of Florida and studying the incredible abundance of rivers, creeks, and lakes in this area. The natural beauty is superb and the level of difficulty is entirely a matter of choice. Lately, there is a slight scattering of the small, plastic kayaks near populated areas but get away a little and there will be no one at all. Just you and your boat(s).
