I'm a fan of SOF but mine have been low volume Greenland designs (like Christopher Cunningham's book). I've been looking for something that I could use in any situation including overnight trips and big crossings.
I think his Baidarka is just plain beautiful and I'm horny to build one. I think he nailed the dimensions I was looking for in my next kayak. Many SOF builders are going for extreme narrowness which I think is a mistake. Sure they may be faster and easy to roll but the loss of other attributes isn't worth it. So I'm really interested in his Baidarka.
I think Tom was mostly just experimenting with the clear covering I doubt it's strong enough to hold up to some abuse. But I guess you'll have to ask him about that.
