I got a pair of NRS Cross 4 wet shoes for summer paddling from my daughter. Last year, I got a pair of Chota mukluks, so I'm good in the foot department.

I got a dry suit to be tested tomorrow. Expedition hooded Kokatat suit with the Polar tech liners. It has waist band that goes over the skirt but what do you do with the skirt straps?

Can't get to my deck box (snow PITA)where the skirt is I guess the straps are mounted below the top of the skirt to leave room to get the dry suit to lap over it 4-5"?

Got a gift certificate to a local shop that I plan to use for classes. Hopefully they will have a bracing & edging class soon.

I need that too but I want to learn to roll. I guess I don't have to wait till I'm better at bracing.

What do they charge for lessons there? How many in a class if you know?

Classes can run between $45-65, depending on the subject. Usually there are no more than 6 in a class, depending on the subject.

What I didn't get for Christmas was the new kayak gloves that I have picked out.

However, if it doesn't warm up soon (here in Florida), I'm going to need those mukluks and the fleece warm fuzzies!

Wait a minute; you wear gloves in Florida? What has become of "global warning?"

Believe it, or not, up here in the PNW (Pacific North West), some of us actually have to wear gloves in the winter--sometimes. I've tried a few different types and have settled on some waterproof, poyester gloves with Thinsulate insulation. I've tried all kinds of neoprene and rubbery gloves and none of them keep my hands warm. And the best part is that they are under $10. In fact, I just bought another pair and they were about $6.97. That beats the heck out of fifty bucks for what some paddling gloves cost.

Not gloves to keep my hands warm, 3/4 gloves to help protect my girly hands from caluses. I looking at Harken Spectrum 3/4 gloves in pink (of course). They run about $28-29, but I wear gloves a lot so they have to be durable (as well as functional and looking good).

Looks like y'all in the PNW are getting hammered again. I'm sure you'll just head it on east our way...hopefully it will pass to the north and leave us balmy weather folks be. Finally starting to warm back up here. Good thing Tom & I are Keys bound next week.

Actually Deb, we had clear skies and sunshine today and the same is expected for the next couple, but it ain't hot. I think it made it all the way up to the mid forties today. I'm hoping to get some paddling done tomorrow, or the next day, but it will depend somewhat on the weather. I'm definitely a fair weather paddler.

48 in Long Island today but I hurt my knee when I fell yesterday on the ice while cleaning the used boat I just bought so I can't paddle today. Paddling is OK it is getting in and out of the boat on the floating dock.

BRRRRRRR!! Y'all are hard core! We paddled last week during the cold snap and were thankful for the constant temp of the spring water (72 degrees). The air was in the low 50s. Even though the sun was shining, the wind was blowing. It made it feel much colder. We paddled again later in the week, air in the low 70s.Now THAT is Florida weather! Both trips were with out of state folks. Sharing the wonderful REAL Florida sights.

I want to get in my dry suit this weekend and go in the water for a while. Fleece I got from Kokatat does not look to thick. I'll see as the water is about 38*
