I guess it would either be Flathead Lake in Montana, or Lake Tahoe (Cal/Nev). Why? Well I've been to both of these lakes a number of times, but I've never paddled them. They are both fabulously beautiful bodies of water and at least when I've been there, they seem to have pretty stable conditions. I also like that there are no sea lions, no gators, no sharks, no orcas.... Hey, I don't paddle for adrenalin fixes and cheap thrills.

Which kayak? Hhhmmmm, oh I know--my NC Expedition. Bet no one could have guessed that.

I think I'd best enjoy paddling waters filled with islands, and inhabited by friendly, boat-loving people with a high standard of living (so when I came ashore, I'd be able to easily find good conversation and creature comforts). So, two areas fairly close to one another suggest themselves--Denmark and its waters and islands, and, the enormous cloud of islands in the Baltic Sea/Gulf of Bothnia that stretches from Stockholm in Sweden to Turku in Finland. Maybe SK will fund sending me there to do research and write some articles! Of course I'd take my Epic 16X.

I'd have to go for the South Pacific: Tahiti, Bora Bora, Tonga. Someplace with warm, clear water. A barrier reef to make it a non adrenalin paddle, friendly people and great snorkeling. Heck I might even do it on a sit-on-top so I could just roll over the side when I saw something that needed a closer look.

I think I would like to paddle around Ireland and the cliffs & tough water. That is where my father and mother were born. Guess I would take my CD Solstice.

Someone told me to paddle in FL. I said no thanks as it was a crocodile area they said was great.

Great Lakes would be great too no sharks.

I have had the fortune of paddling in Ireland. It is indeed a beautiful place to paddle and Ireland has a VERY vibrant kayak community both flat water and white water.

If I had my choice and the time I would paddle the Inside Passage from Port Hardy to Skagway Alaska. I have done some pretty epic (to me any way) sea kayaks expeditions mostly in Florida and Georgia. But none seem to be as remote and as fun as a Inside Passage trip.

Take the Alaska Marine Highway ferry from Bellingham Washington to Petersburg Alaska. Paddle from Petersburg through Stephens Passage to Juneau. From Juneau continue north though Lynn Canal to Skagway. Incredible mountain scenery, wildlife, glaciers, icebergs, whales, sea lions, eagles, salmon. From Skagway AK take the ferry back to Bellingham WA. Minimum two weeks paddling, three is better.
