I enoyed testing as many boats as possible to get the right one. I wonder if the original poster narrowed it down to these two boats (Tempest and P & H) by demo-ing? My main boat is now a Romany. I demoed it taking an all-day BCU 2 and 3-star training. Couldn't think of a better way to demo a kayak. Not drooling over any more kayaks, unless I see a beautiful wooden one or a sleek surf kayak........Steve F

Hi. I'd like to suggest you look at the Delta 18.5. It comes in the Sport or the Expedition model. It is 18.5' L by 23.5" W. Made of thermoplastic, it is nicely finished and weighs only 58 lbs. I bought a new demo Sport boat used for a review at half price and I've paddled it for 3 yrs. I think the capacity of the 18.5 Expedition model is unmatched by any boat. I don't know about the availability. Good luck, ==Paul

You might want to think about approaching this topic in a completely different manner. Too many people want a boat to store their gear for long trips (let us say 20 to 30 days with no resupply). Their priority is space for their stuff, etc.
I believe that this is the wrong approach. The top priority in choosing a boat shoud be safety and comfort. Try different boats and get one that feels right for you. Many times this boat will not be one of the 'popular' models or the most 'expensive'. Then downsize your equipment thinking of cubic centimeters of storage space and weight. Top quality kayaking or mountain climbing gear is the best. A smaller boat can store a massive amount of high quality gear.
Here is what you end up with. A safe boat that is comfortable and plenty of low weight high quality gear for the long haul. You will then truly become a lean mean kayaking machine!

Kayakman is, as the Brits say, "spot on".

Too many people buy a big volume boat imagining all the great expeditions they'll take and, therefore, it's important how much their new boat will hold.

In reality, they take those kinds of 10 day plus trips 5-10% of the time, if that. The rest of the time they have a big barge that is heavier to load and unload, a handful to turn and edge in wind, textured water, etc.

Packing small & light opens up a whole new range of boats - ones that can be very enjoyable paddling empty or loaded.

I don't know if could get 30 days of food in a kayak for me. If I did I would be a bit skinnier when I returned!
