This is my first post so I am hoping that someone will help.

I have just bought (yet to collect) a CD Solstice GT and would like to make a cradle to transport it (I've seen similar racks/cradles in use in the UK and they seem to work well, particuarly with roof bars only a short distance away from each other). I am planning to use 2"x2"x1/4" Aluminium Angle with 12" cut-offs welded onto the inverted angle as supports. I need to know whether the natural 45deg angle provided is about right for the supports (if the cradle is 7ft long) or do I need to modify the angle in any way.

Sort of like this-> >< but with longer supports obviously (I have a better diagram I can email)

If anyone has any other suggestions I'll be glad to hear them.

Not entirely useful as I sometimes take my car off road, but thanks anyway.

Just returned having collected my kayak. Cradle worked perfectly.
