Hi

I am looking for a digital camera for everyday use... I'm no expert, I've been looking around for some and I really like the canon powershot G9. Price isn't too bad either. I read a lot digital camera reviews on alaTest. So something with those characteristics is what I am looking for and I don't want to spend over 500 USD... Good quality pics, zoom, etc.... what do you guys thing... I don't care much about brands either, but I've mostly been researching canons. what about the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H50? or others similar? Please Suggest me if any.

Thanks.

Hi Mark,

Have a look at these. You didn't mention if you want to use it kayaking but since your on this web site I guess there's water involved. This takes great a picture above or below the water and is a tough little camera.

I'm pretty happy with the Olympus stylus 1030SW waterproof camera. saw it reviewed in Sea Kayaker archives and ordered it from Amazon. what's nice is its about the size of a deck of cards so small enough to keep handy. works well underwater for video you can see some video from it at

it looks a little blurry on youtube but is much better in full digipot right off the card.

Will , I think everyone in Australia agrees with you. We have been have the same discussion on our forum and come to the same conclusion. I nearly bought one today but put money down on a Canon 5dmk2..........not for kayaking though.

I still prefer the reefmaster range they are Really waterproof and tougher than the Olympus.
