I've recently purchased a P+H kevlar/graphite CETUS.
There appears to be some scuffing where my heels rest on the floor of the boat, shoulod I keep a close eye on this?
I've heard that K/G layup is not up to this type of wear, if so how is repair work done to beef up the high wear areas?

A friend of mine epoxied a rectangle of glass cloth onto the inside of the hull where his heels rest. Seems to work.

So epoxy works, what kind of resign was used? I've read that some polymers won't work with Kevlar layups.

I second the recommendation of using HeelEasy. I wore a hole inside the hull of my all-carbon kayak where my heels rest, so I put KeelEasy strips under my heels (before they came out with HeelEasy). They are self-stick, and very easy to work with, but stick very well. I pump hard with my legs when I paddle and have not had the strips come loose yet. KeelEasy says that their PVC keel strips are 14 times more abrasion resistant than fiberglass.

The above suggestions sound good, but I have to wonder if some of the wear is a result of not claaning the sand off your booties, or boots before allowing them into the cockpit. I have hundreds of hours in all of my kayaks and as near as I can tell, there is no wear issue. No sand gets in my boats if I can help it.

In my case, it definitely was from a small, sharp rock in heel of the sole of my paddling shoe, as I discovered later. Like Magooch, I normally do not allow sand or gravel to get into my kaykak, so I paddled for years with no observable wear. However, I wore the hole in the inner layer of my carbon hull during just one four-hour paddle when I was unaware of the rock in my sole. I immediately installed the HeelEasy material and have had no further problems.
