Golden Gate Sea Kayak Symposium: T Rescue
At the Golden Gate Sea Kayak Symposium Shawna and Leon of Body Boat Blade had some good tips on doing the T-rescue. Their emphasis was on keeping the swimmer in a safe spot close to the rescuer and on draining the cockpit without the rescuer straining to lift the bow of the capsized kayak. After we practiced their techniques on flat water we did the rescue drills in the tide race at Yellow Bluff. Even in the confused seas in the tide race the method worked like a charm. This short gives a glimpse of Shawna and Leon with their shore-side lesson.
