Nate Apgar breaks Dubside’s old Greenland ropes record.

A few years ago Dubside entered the ropes— Qajaasaarneq — competition at the Greenland Kayak Championships. He scored 336 points, well behind Maligaiq Padilla’s 500 points. Maligiaq took the gold medal that year but in recognition of Dubside’s performance as an outsider coming to the games, gave Dubside his medal. Dubside promised to pass the medal along to the any non-Greenland ropes athlete who could break his 336 points.
With the ropes set up at the Delmarva Paddler’s Retreat and Dubside scoring, Nate began the half hour he’d have to do as may moves and score as many points as he could. The dozens of exercises include both high ropes and low ropes.
When the clock ran out, a hardly weary Nate had scored 386 points. Dubside, true to his word, happily presented his medal to Nate.
