LightShip
by SolLight, Simply Brilliant, LLC

If you like to write in a journal or read before turning in for the night, you may want to have the luxury of a light that you can use for as long as you want without having to worry about running through batteries. The LightShip is a solar-charged light that can convert three to four hours of daylight into eight hours of nightlight. The solar cells pick up enough light even from an overcast sky to charge the built-in battery.

The LightShip has three suction-cup feet that were designed to hold the LightShip in a window, but since kayaks don’t have portholes, it has to ride on deck feet up. It’s rated as “weatherproof,” so having it in a clear dry bag will protect it if you have it on deck. It would otherwise be vulnerable to waves washing over it.
The light is not overly bright—it’s just enough to read by with the light held close by, and it’s not likely to bother a tent mate who’s trying to get to sleep.
