Equipment -- October 1998
|
Construction: The front is shaped into three pieces, with a center panel and two
side panels. The zipper is positioned between the front and right
side panels, which feature princess seams.
Features: Two large-capacity pockets: one mesh and one solid
nylon fabric and neoprene. Nylon webbing is sewn in four places
for attaching gear. It has a strap on the upper rear shoulder for
a strobe. VK liked the neoprene pocket with clasp closure: "The
clasp is easy to open and unlikely to fail, as a zipper might."
Both reviewers appreciated the design and extra features of this
PFD.
Fit: Snug and comfortable. The close-fitting curves "allow
for a snug fit that doesn't ride up in the water. This would be
a good choice for petite paddlers."(LR)
Ease of entry/exit: This style of PFD requires the wearer
to loosen the shoulder webbing to get her head through. Once the
reviewers got used to the side zipper, it seemed easy to deal with.
VK found that she had to snug this PFD up to make it fit well lengthwise,
which makes the neck opening smaller than she would like.
Adjustability: VK liked being able to adjust this PFD at
the shoulder, and felt that the side straps are at a convenient
location to tighten them comfortably. Range of motion: Both paddlers
appreciated the range of motion this PFD afforded. "Full range of
motion and comfort with forward paddling stroke," said LR. "The
arms are cut away at a good angle for paddling," VK commented.
Visibility: Yellow makes this PFD highly visible. Sewn-on
reflective tape on the shoulders and upper back.
Buoyancy: The flotation is more than adequate to keep one's
head and shoulders well out of the water. A snug fit minimizes riding
up in the water.
